CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - People in the Charlotte community say they are bothered and stressed over the Derek Chauvin trial. The former Minneapolis police officer is charged with the murder of George Floyd.
“I cried every time,” Char-Meck NAACP President Rev. Corine Mack said. “They cry - I cry. Every time I saw it I cried. Every time I heard it - I cried.”
Mack has been watching the trial and was concerned when she saw testimony during week one that had people on the stand blaming themselves they didn’t do more to save George Floyd’s life.
Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan faces doubts Updated: 5 hours ago
Print article WASHINGTON - Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said on Monday he opposes a key part of the White House jobs and infrastructure plan, as early objections across the political aisle threatened to cloud the fate of the $2 trillion proposal. Speaking on a West Virginia radio station, Manchin said he would vote against President Joe Biden’s proposal to raise the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, instead saying the rate should be set at 25%. Even if all other Democrats support the plan, Manchin’s opposition would likely be enough to kill it because the Senate is split 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans.

LONDON: Britain is not yet a model for other white-majority countries in terms of racial equality, the Church of England’s first black female bishop has said.
The Rt Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkin said she was concerned that a Government-backed review of racial disparities in Britain had made the claim in a report published last week. The Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities said in its landmark review that the “success of much of the ethnic minority population” in education and the economy “should be regarded as a model for other white-majority countries”.
Ms Hudson-Wilkin, the Bishop of Dover, said Britain will become an example when black people are customers in establishments, rather than just cleaning and serving. She told ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Monday: “I think what concerned me most about that report was about this blanket thing that Britain can now be an example to other majority-white people.
